Password Protect Page or Post in WordPress

1. Edit the Page or Post

  • Step 1: Log in to your WordPress dashboard.

  • Step 2: Navigate to Pages or Posts from the left-hand menu, depending on which you want to protect.
  • Step 3: Click on the page or post you want to edit.

 

2. Set a Password

  • Step 1: On the right-hand side of the editor, find the Document or Post settings panel (this may vary slightly depending on whether you’re using the Classic Editor or Block Editor).
  • Step 2: Look for the Visibility section under the Status & Visibility tab.
  • Step 3: Click on Visibility: Public and select Password Protected from the options.
  • Step 4: Enter a password in the text field that appears.

3. Publish or Update the Page/Post

  • Step 1: Once the password is set, click Publish (for new content) or Update (for existing content).
  • Step 2: Your page or post is now password protected. Users will need to enter the password to view the content.

4. Test the Password Protection

  • Step 1: Visit the page or post while logged out or in a private/incognito browser window.
  • Step 2: You should see a prompt asking for the password. Enter the password you set to ensure it works correctly.
