Approve, Edit, or Delete Comments in WordPress Post
Managing comments in WordPress is a straightforward process. Here’s how you can approve, edit, or delete comments on your posts:
1. Access the Comments Section
- Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.

- On the left sidebar, click on Comments. This will take you to the comments management page where you can see all the comments on your site.

2. Approve a Comment
- Locate the comment you want to approve in the list.
- Hover over the comment, and you’ll see several options appear beneath it: Approve, Reply, Quick Edit, Edit, Spam, and Trash.
- Click Approve to publish the comment on your site. Approved comments will appear publicly on the corresponding post.

3. Edit a Comment
- To make changes to a comment, hover over it and click Edit.
- You’ll be taken to the comment editing screen where you can modify the comment text, the commenter’s name, email, and URL if necessary.
- After making your changes, click Update to save them.
Alternatively, you can use Quick Edit:
- Hover over the comment and click Quick Edit.
- This allows you to make quick changes without leaving the comments list page.
- Click Update Comment when done.
4. Delete a Comment
- To delete a comment, hover over it and click Trash.
- The comment will be moved to the Trash, where it will remain for 30 days before being permanently deleted.
- If you want to permanently delete it immediately, go to the Trash tab at the top of the comments page, hover over the comment, and click Delete Permanently.
5. Mark a Comment as Spam
- If a comment is inappropriate or spammy, hover over it and click Spam.
- The comment will be moved to the Spam folder. WordPress will learn from this action, and similar comments may be automatically marked as spam in the future.
6. Bulk Actions
- You can manage multiple comments at once using bulk actions:
- Check the boxes next to the comments you want to manage, or check the box at the top to select all comments on the page.
- Use the dropdown menu labeled Bulk Actions above the comments list to choose Approve, Unapprove, Mark as Spam, Move to Trash, etc.
- Click Apply to perform the selected action on all checked comments.
7. Comment Moderation Settings
- To control how comments are handled on your site, go to Settings > Discussion.
- Here you can adjust settings for approving comments manually, requiring moderation, holding comments with specific words for moderation, and more.
These steps will help you manage comments effectively on your WordPress posts. Let me know if you need further assistance!
